to Dawn Socha and her team in O’Neill, NE, selected as the Store of the Month for May.
Dawn started with Cubby’s in 2014 and she joined the O’Neill team in March 2021.
Dawn has a magic touch when it comes to managing stores, and credits the O’Neill team, many who have been fixtures at the store for several years, for keeping the customers coming back.
“O’Neill is a small community of about 3300, they stop in for a familiar friendly face, and a home-cooked meal,” says Dawn. “Laura and her team in the kitchen make the best roast beef, this isn’t sandwiches to-go, they are delicious meals.”
The O’Neill store has a dining area and is a popular place for neighboring farmers and members of the community to gather. The store also serves Chester’s Chicken and Godfather’s Pizza Express.
“It’s been really fun getting to know the community, it’s a small town with a strong sense of community,” says Dawn.
The O’Neill store is also a popular stop for truck drivers, offering several amenities and long-time staff who they have gotten to know. It is a convenient stop along Highway 20 between Norfolk and Valentine.
The team at the store is looking forward to getting more involved with the O’Neill Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club and participating in community events and charity bike rides. The store supports O’Neill schools through the Raise the Dough program.
“I love the family aspects of Cubby’s, everyone is treated so well by De Lone and Phil and their team,” says Dawn. “There is a real family feel, and they genuinely care about us. I have worked for a lot of places, and Cubby’s Congratulations really is different.”
