Cubby’s Scholarship Program.
AUGUST, Blair, NE – Cubby’s Convenience Stores has selected twenty-six recipients of the Stephen Falk Memorial Scholarship. 2018 marks the twentieth year that Cubby’s Inc. has awarded employees or children of employees with the $1000 scholarships that can be used for college tuition and fees. The scholarship winners were recognized at a luncheon at Cascio’s Steakhouse on June 5, 2018.
Cubby’s has awarded approximately $326,000 in scholarships since The Stephen Falk Scholarship was established in 1998 in memory of Stephen Falk, son of Cubby’s co-founder Max Falk.
“These scholarships help us recognize and thank our dedicated employees for their loyal service,” said Phil Morrison, founder and CEO of Cubby’s.
Remington Rader from Neligh, NE is one of the 2018 scholarship recipients. The Wayne State College senior is pursuing a degree in Business Management with a minor in Exercise Science and has been an employee of Cubby’s Inc. for almost two years.
“My experiences interacting with many different types of people at Cubby’s will help me handle many different situations,” said Rader. “I will be grateful for everything I have learned at Cubby’s when I graduate and start my career.”
Morrison spoke to the scholarship recipients at the June luncheon and encouraged the students to always work hard at developing relationships with good people to achieve success in their careers and life. He reminded them a keep a positive attitude and to focus on the ‘Four C’s’ – – Character, Commitment, Capability and Capital.
Winners were selected by a committee based on their academic record, test scores, extracurricular and workplace involvement, recommendations and an essay.
